2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E vs 2021 Hyundai Kona EV

2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E vs 2021 Hyundai Kona EV

As people continue to learn more about the harm that vehicles can have on the planet, many people are choosing to purchase eco-friendly vehicles. Some of the most popular types of eco-friendly vehicles are electric SUV. These innovative vehicles provide their passengers with a lot of interior space while also providing the latest technology. This year, there are two new and exciting all-electric SUVs that are joining the segment: the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E and the 2021 Hyundai Kona Electric. Here is a look at how these two impressive vehicles compare to each other.

Exterior Design

The Mach-E has a sleek and stylish exterior design. The body is outlined in long, swooping curves and well-defined lines that not only help to give it an athletic style but also help it to be more aerodynamic. The sculpted hood slopes down towards the bright LED headlights that help to light the way on the dark roads at night. The Mach-E comes standard with 18-inch aluminum wheels. However, 19-inch aluminum wheels and 20-inch machine-face aluminum wheels are available for an added level of style.

The Kona Electric also comes with a wide range of features that help to make the exterior stylish. The Kona comes standard with 17-inch wheels, but LED headlights are standard. While the Kona electric does come with a subtle rear spoiler, its wide and bulky body makes it look less athletic than the Mach-E.

Interior Design

The Mach-E's interior is both spacious and stylish. The cabin features two rows of spacious seating that provide plenty of legroom and headspace for all passengers. The cabin is adorned with premium materials and offers a wide range of high-end features including available heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. There is also a large rear cargo area that provides 29 cubic feet of space behind the second-row seats. Drivers can also find other places to store their objects inside of the car including the floating centre console.

The Hyundai Kona does offer plenty of interior space as well. It can comfortably fit up to five people and also provides plenty of legroom and headspace for both front and backseat passengers. However, the cabin's design is simplistic and slightly dull. It comes with basic amenities and cloth fabric.

High-Tech Interior

Every Mach-E model comes standard with an extra-large 15.5-inch touchscreen infotainment display. There is also a standard 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster that is fully customizable and allows you to easily view the built-in navigation system.

The Kona Electric comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen display, but an 8-inch display is available on higher trims. Both displays come standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, if you want a built-in navigation system, you will have to choose the available 10.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display for an additional fee.

Power and Performance

The 2021 Mach-E comes offers two powerful engines. A rear-wheel-drive system comes standard, but certain models also offer an available electric all-wheel-drive system. The Mach-E features a powerful electric motor that is mounted on either the rear axle or both axels. Powering this electric motor is a standard-range 75.7-kWh battery pack that can deliver 266 horsepower and 317 lb.-ft of torque with RWD and 428 lb.-ft of torque with eAWD. The extended range 98.8-kWh battery pack can deliver up to 480 horsepower and up to 634 lb.-ft of torque.

The Kona Electric only offers one powertrain option. The standard FWD motor is powered by a 64.0-kWh battery pack which can deliver up to 201 horsepower.

In a head-to-head competition, the winner is clear. The 2021 Mach-E is better than the Hyundai Kona Electric in almost every way. If you have any questions about the 2021 Ford Mach-E, please feel free to contact us today.
