2022 Ford Bronco Raptor

2022 Ford Bronco Raptor

Ford Bronco Raptor

This year, Ford has brought its performance category cars to an all-time high by introducing the new Bronco Raptor. This vehicle stands out from the rest because it’s the world’s first Ultra4 Racing-inspired SUV. Built by the same Ford engineers who brought us the F-150 Raptor, the Bronco Raptor was explicitly designed to drive on off-road terrains, but don’t be dismayed if you also want to take it for a ride on a regular road.

The Desert SUV

The Desert SUV

The Bronco Raptor was built for extreme sports enthusiasts who excel under scorching temperatures in the deserts riding over dunes and rocky landscapes, which is not a problem for this vehicle. It comes equipped with an upgraded High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension (HOSS) with Live Valve technology and 3.1 internal bypass semi-active dampers from a collaboration with FOX. These dampers are specially tuned in the front and rear and include integrated reservoirs in the front and remote reservoirs in the back. The SUV is capable of towing up to 4500 pounds.

Performance and exterior features

Performance and exterior features

The boxed, steel-framed 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor is not powered by a V8 as some would have expected. Still, it consists of a dangerous and powerful twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 engine that delivers more than 400 horsepower — paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and an improved four-wheel-drive system that works simultaneously with changeable GOAT (Go Over Any Terrain) modes. Combining these features powers the Bronco Raptor to glide over desert surfaces.

Ford engineers started drafting the new Bronco Raptor from the original Bronco. They upgraded the frame through a new B-pillar crossbar and C-pillar reinforcement to add rigidity. Thanks to competition-level axles, a track-width increase of 8.6 inches brought the length to 73.6 inches in total. These are the same axles used on the Bronco D.R. racing truck.

The Ford Performance team collaborated with BFGoodrich to provide 37-inch KO2 all-terrain tires, the most significant production for SUVs in America.
Other exterior features include:

  • Bespoke front and rear quarter-panels
  • Fender flares
  • A custom grille with FORD lettering

Interior Features

Interior Features

Although the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor’s creation is for the outdoors, the interior design and dimensions are the same as the regular Bronco. The interior flooring is rubberized; you have marine-grade vinyl upholstery and a set of additional toggles in the overhead.

Like the authentic Bronco, the Bronco Raptor also gives you the option of removable panels, as the frameless doors are easy to remove. In the absence of these doors, the exterior mirrors placed at the bottom of the windshields can still work.

Safety Features

safety features

Despite all the off-road enhancements, the Bronco Raptor still kept in mind these three key safety features:

  • Lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist
  • Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert
  • Forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking
  • Automatic high beams

Thanks to intensified bash and skid-plates, the driveline coverage from the front bumper to the engine is continuous, as for the transmission and the transfer case.
