Ford Escape Hybrid Among ‘Most Loved’ SUVs

The Ford Escape Hybrid has long stood out as one of the most popular electrified SUVs, known for its reliability and efficiency. Originally launched nearly two decades ago, the Escape Hybrid’s reputation has only grown, with many owners holding onto their vehicles for well over a decade. This longevity reflects the loyalty it inspires—some models have traveled hundreds of thousands of miles, a testament to their durability and fuel efficiency.

Recently, iSeeCars conducted a study analyzing vehicles most likely to be kept by their original owners for 15 years or more. The Ford Escape Hybrid secured the seventh spot on the list, making it one of the most cherished SUVs in the U.S. Notably, it ranked just behind highly respected models like the Toyota Highlander Hybrid and Toyota Camry Hybrid, further underscoring its popularity and trusted reputation among long-term owners.

The study examined over 929,000 vehicles from the 1981-2009 model years, assessing how many were kept for 15 years or longer. Ford Escape Hybrid owners demonstrated a higher-than-average commitment, with 6.3% keeping their vehicles for over 15 years, significantly exceeding the industry average of 3.7%. This high retention rate highlights the Escape Hybrid’s appeal, particularly its practicality and dependable performance over time.

According to iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer, retaining a car for this long can provide major cost benefits, such as reduced loan payments, insurance, and registration costs. Brauer noted that models like the Escape Hybrid offer the key traits essential for long-term ownership—reliability, practicality, and fuel efficiency—making them ideal choices for those who value durability and cost-effectiveness in their vehicles.
